The UHS TV classes have been redesigned and structured as a progressive four-level pathway that builds skills step by step. Professional development is incorporated into all four levels, ensuring students gain both creative and career-ready experiences. From foundational knowledge to professional-level projects, the program prepares students for success in film, television, digital media, and the entertainment industry. With a focus on creativity, technical skills, and career readiness, UHS TV equips students with the tools and experiences needed to thrive in today’s media landscape.

Media Production
TV Production 4 is an advanced course focused on long-form media production and professional career development. Students will produce an original film throughout the year while also building their personal brand, business identity, and portfolio. The course includes resume writing, demo reel development, certification prep (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Content Creation, and drone), and hands-on content creation for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Students will leave the course with industry-ready materials and the skills to pursue freelance, creative, or corporate media work.
Evolving the Program
"My goal is to evolve UHS TV by creating a digital media production pathway. Ideally this change would create a cohesive program that will shift our classes from TV Production into Digital Media Production which will help reflect the various forms of media students will develop and create while also highlighting the growing range of opportunities in today’s media industry.
This transition would begin with the return of Introduction to Digital Media as a half-year course, paired with Digital Media Production 1 (also half-year). Together, these courses would form Year 1, allowing students to explore media production and decide if they want to continue in the pathway.
From there, Digital Media Production 2, 3, and 4 would remain full-year courses, offering progressive skill-building, professional development, and advanced projects. A new class option, Digital Media Independent Study, would also be introduced, giving students the chance to specialize in a concentrations like directing, videography/cinematography, editing, or producing.
This restructured model would open doors for both beginners testing the waters and advanced students ready to work at higher levels. By expanding into digital media, the program would better reflect the industry today while giving every student space to grow in their craft and passion."
